Pre-trip meeting/info

Tuesday July 10, 2007

We had a great final trip meeting last night, hosted by the Howards, with a great turnout of parents and players. We covered the flight details, packing list and room lists. It was funny to see the mixture of excitement/anxious anticipation on the faces of the guys.... I think we're all ready for the adventure.

While doing some preparation for the meeting Coach Parry and I found some helpful sites that you might want to look through to help orient yourself with Liverpool and where we'll be.

The weather in England is always interesting, so far, it doesn't look great- more of the same if you've been watching Wimbledon at all. (If you're not familiar with blogs, it just like websites, just click the hyperlinked texted and it will take you to the site with the linked information.)

Liverpool's site, particularly the Academy's site, is full of information- including an interactive photo section to see the facilities- to understand the excellence we will be immersed in over the week we will be training at the Academy... described by our very own tour guide Frank Skelly, who remarkably is the former Academy Operations Director- so we will be well taken care of while we are there. There is also another great article about the Academy, in which Skelly goes into far more details about the way the Academy works- very interesting.

We will be staying at the University of Liverpool's Rankin Hall, which you can see on the map from University of Liverpool's link, is just south of the city and about 20 minutes from Kirkby, where the Academy is located.

This is just a start...
